World Economic Forum: Elon Musk slammed the world’s most powerful club by saying this is becoming an “unelected world government” and that nobody wants it.
Elon Musk has slammed World Economic Forum in Davos. He says people are tired of unelected rulers.
By India Today Tech: It seems that Twitter’s new boss Elon Musk is not a fan of the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the billionaire has heavily bashed it in his last few tweets. In one of the posts, he slammed the world’s most powerful club by saying this is becoming an “unelected world government” and that nobody wants it.
The conference is held every year to talk about global issues like technology’s effects on security, and it is attended by business executives, global leaders and cultural trend-setters from all over the world.
The tweet is a response to a short clip, which shows WEF’s founder and chairman Klaus Schwab talking about World Economic Forum’s new “Global Collaboration Village” in the Metaverse, which he feels people should have faith in because they are losing interest in political institutions. In the video, Schwab explains that people can trust it because of Interpol, which is an international organization for creating solutions and taking action on some of the challenges that the world is facing.
Following this, Elon Musk tweeted on Twitter, saying “WEF is increasingly becoming an unelected world government that the people never asked for and don’t want.” Just a few days back, Musk also openly said on Twitter, “how is WEF/Davos even a thing? Are they trying to be the boss of Earth?” Musk didn’t stop there and conducted a poll on Twitter, asking his millions of followers whether WEF should control the world. All this clearly showed his disappointment with the conference and this has been for years.
This is not the first time that the billionaire has criticized this forum. Just last year, Musk called the World Economic Forum boring. “My reason for declining the Davos invitation was not because I thought they were engaged in diabolical scheming, but because it sounded boring af lol,” he said in a tweet last year.
Though, his claim of declining the invitation was immediately declared fake as the organizer of the World Economic Forum Summit, Yann Zopf, reported that Musk was never given the invitation to attend the conference. Zopf said that the invitation was “not (sent to him) this year and not recently – last time in 2015.” He further added that “Musk never registered for any annual meeting in Davos.”
